Mohd Khairul Anwar Ismail

     Mohd Khairul Anwar Ismail is a senior advocates and solicitors in the High Court of Malaya. He completed his Bachelor of Laws from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in October 2005, and completed his Bachelor of Laws (Shariah) from the same university in October 2006, and was called to the Bar on 23 November 2007. In 2009, he completed his Masters of Laws, from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).

     He started his legal career when he did his pupillage in one of the reputable and prominent legal firms in Kuala Lumpur in November 2006, and later joined them as a legal assistant. He was exposed largely to banking and finance with emphasis on Islamic Finance, and represented various banks and financial institution. He was also exposed to banking litigation, and he also rendered legal opinions to financial institutions. As he masters both civil and shariah, he was entrusted to handle various civil, corporate and shariah cases, and he has appeared in all the High Court divisions as well as before the Court of Appeal, and Federal Court. After 2010, he involved in the human rights advocacy in Malaysia, and until now still become one of the human rights lawyer in Malaysia with over 10+ years of experience.

      Apart from legal practice, he has strong passion in legal education. He is engaged as part time law lecturer since 2010 at the various Higher institutions namely International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), University of Putra Malaysia (UPM), Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM), University of Selangor (UNISEL) and the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS).

       Due to his vast experiences in civil and shariah legal practice and academic, dan due to his vast involvement in the human rights advocacy in Malaysia, he was appointed as part of the consultant’s team for National Human Rights Action Plan in 2015. He was appointed as one of the main committee to lead the project, and the project was delivered in time and launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia in February 2018.

      Despite his many legal and academic commitments, he was also worked extensively in Islamic finance industry and corporate waqf institution. In 2018, he was appointed as a Board member of Koperasi Belia Islam, which is a credit co-operative based on Islamic financial principles, and the first Islamic co-operative in Malaysia established in 1977, and later he was appointed as a Deputy chairman of the board. He was also appointed as a member of the board of directors of Takmir Foundation, a community-driven corporate Waqf institution in Malaysia.

     He is also active in community works, and currently sitting as the Deputy President of Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM)
