In a recent book by Walter Isaacson, it has come to light that Elon Musk made a preposterous remark regarding China's ongoing genocide against the Uyghurs and other Turkic people in East Turkistan. Elon Musk stated that there are "two sides to China's repression of the Uyghur people”. The International Union of East Turkistan Organizations (IUETO) strongly condemns Elon Musk's comments.
It is not unknown that Elon Musk previously justified the opening of a Tesla showroom in East Turkistan, despite the well-documented and publicly known fact China has been implementing genocidal policies, including concentration camps, indoctrination, a total ban on practicing Islam, forced abortions, forced family separations, and state oppression on a genocidal scale. Millions have been arrested, and millions more have perished since China's occupation in 1949.
"By expressing support for China's crimes in East Turkistan, Elon Musk, like other profit-driven multinational corporations, has not only aided China in covering up this genocide but has also revealed how far he has strayed from his own purported values and moral compass," stated Mr. Hidayet Oghuzhan, President of IUETO. "Any company conducting business in East Turkistan is complicit in the ongoing genocide. However, Elon Musk's actions are particularly despicable."
IUETO calls upon transnational corporations and governments worldwide to uphold their legal and moral obligations toward the people of East Turkistan, ensuring accountability for alleged violations of international law. We urge them to take all necessary measures to bring an end to the ongoing genocide and China's colonization in East Turkistan.
