 Istanbul Debate Camp for East Turkestan youth

East Turkistan diaspora youth from different countries participated in three-day debate training camp held in Istanbul between 3-5 February in order to improve their debating skills in English language.

45 Uyghurs youth from Turkiye, Norway, Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Sweden participated in the English debate training camp at Zeynulabidin Conference Hall in Arnavutköy District of Istanbul, in cooperation with the International Union of East Turkistan Organizations (IUETO), Satuk Buğrahan Science and Civilization Foundation (SIM Vakfi) and Bait Al-Amanah Institute - Malaysia.


Established trainers invited from Malaysia to give lectures and trainings in the three-day debate camp which aims to improve the participants’ English proficiency, expressions and discussion skills, as well as to strengthen their national spirit.

On the last day of the program, after attending the February 5th Gulja Martyrs' Commemoration protest and press conference held in front of the Chinese Consulate in Istanbul, the youth participated in a public debate competition focused on delivering their presentation of the learned information and fluency learned throughout the debate camp.

Prizes were awarded to the winning teams. At the opening and closing ceremony of the training program, President of IUETO Hidayet OĞUZHAN, President of the East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association (ETHRW) Nur Muhammed TURKİSTANİ, leader of the Nuzugum East Turkistan Family and Culture Association Münevver ÖZUYGUR gave their speeches and show their supports for the youth.
