On behalf of KSA's decision to join SCO

The International Union of the East Turkistan Organizations (IUETO) is gravely concerned about Saudi Arabia's decision to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), an economic and political block with China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as members. By name, this organization suggests that its primary aim is to serve for the interest of China and Russia, two of the most influential powers in the region.

Since its establishment, the SCO members states seems to have ignored one crucial issue relevant to diverse interest of the Muslim countries- which is the genocide of Uyghur and other Turkic Muslims in East Turkistan. It’s a proven fact that East Turkistan has become an open prison as millions of Uyghur and other Turkic Muslims incarcerated indefinitely in the detention centres built by China. They are subjected to various crimes against humanities. China continues to shroud these ongoing genocide crimes in the last seven decades with falsified narratives which reportedly diverted the mindsets of the SCO member states.

As an umbrella organisation that advocates for the rights, interests, freedom and sovereignty of East Turkistan and its entire Muslim population, IUETO would like to alert Muslims nations to be careful from having close partnership with China as such action will eventually leads to the negligence of the rights of over 30 millions Muslims in East Turkistan.

Indeed, we are in complete understanding that we cannot interfere with governmental policies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but we have the duty to call and inform all Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia to consider the cause of East Turkistan as a formal agenda when dealing with China. This to ensure the protection of political, social, religious and cultural rights of the Uyghur and other Turkic Muslims in East Turkistan.

SCO has an important mission to increase the influence of China in the emerging economies in Central Asia and Middle East. China’s ambitious move in the Middle East region with the first ever- Arab- China Summit in December 2022 increased influence of China in the region. We can safely conclude that China will continue to suppress the voice of East Turkistan by having the Muslims countries deceived by its hidden agendas.

We also can conclude that if the Asian, Middle East and African regions pave pathways for soft invasion of China, IUETO fears that those Muslim countries are also targeted by the Chinese vilification approaches, as the same did happened in East Turkistan for more than 70 years ago.

IUETO strongly condemns China’s ongoing genocide policies in East Turkistan. We would like to call the Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia to stand up for the rights of the Muslims of East Turkistan by using its significant influence in the global arena.
