Statement on continuous cooperation between OIC and China

The International Union of East Turkistan Organizations(IUETO) vehemently condemns the continuous relationship between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) despite the tragic fact that China’s ongoing genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims in East Turkistan.

According to OIC's account on X, On January 3, Ilzat Ahmatjan, a senior official from the Communist Party's regional committee of Xinjiang made an official visit to the headquarters of OIC and discussed with H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim, the Secretary General of the OIC, inclusively talked about the situation of Muslims in the Chinese-occupied East Turkistan.

It's a known fact that since the occupation in 1949, China has been implementing genocidal policies against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims, which are concentration camps, brainwashing, ban of Islam, abortion, forced sterilization, family separation, destruction of cemeteries, mosques, and other significant cultural sites. Despite that, all this overwhelming evidence of massive atrocities has been documented by researchers, journalists, and eyewitnesses and recognized as crimes against humanity by the UN and EU parliament and as genocide by 10 democratic states, have the OIC repeatedly turned a blind eye to the persecution of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims and could never stand up for the rights of Muslims in the occupied East Turkistan.

OIC’s deepening cooperation with China gives unconditional support to China's massive persecution of Muslims in East Turkistan and the lack of concern by OIC about the situation of Muslims in East Turkistan becomes an accomplice to China’s propaganda machine in attempting to cover up its genocide, thus seriously violating the fundamental purpose of the organization. It is also legitimate to wonder why a prominent organization such as the OIC never speaks on behalf of persecuted Muslims in China.

As a leading umbrella organization that represents the core interest of the East Turkistani population, IUETO condemns the failure of the OIC to fulfill its obligations to stand by the oppressed Muslims in East Turkistan. IUETO would like to remind the OIC to fulfill its duty to safeguard the rights of people in East Turkistan. IUETO also recommends the OIC put pressure on China to stop the forceful Sinicization of Islam and elimination of the Muslim identity of East Turkistan. IUETO urges the International community, governments, NGOs, Islamic organizations, movements, and Muslim countries to stand with the people of East Turkistan and take action to stop the ongoing genocide. IUETO calls on OIC member states, Muslim scholars, communities, and organizations to be aware of the fact that the East Turkistan issue is the most urgent matter for the whole Muslim community and humanity and recognize China’s sinicization of Islam and the eradication of Muslim identity as a war against Islam and Muslims, and to recognize the Genocide which is caused by the occupation of East Turkistan, and to place the occupied East Turkistan under international supervision for the protection of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims there and the termination of the Chinese colonization.
